BCNMCR by atipusWe were invited to take part in the BCNMCR 2014 edition, an exhibition featuring design, typography and illustration studios from Barcelona in Manchester. We designed a collection of 8 posters inspired in Madchester, a music scene that developed in Manchester towards the late 1980s and into the early 1990s. BCNMCR is organised and curated by Dave Sedgwick.

The Great Traitor 12” LP by mlssamrtnThe concept for the “The Great Traitor” LP album design was inspired by the samples of shortwave radio station recordings that were used in the album’s title track. The recordings were sampled with permission of The Conet Project which has released a 4CD set of the audio samples. Our goal was to reflect the characteristic and history of these shortwave radio recordings as described by Irdial Records: Shortwave Numbers Stations are a method of anonymous, one way communication… These stations use very rigid schedules, and transmit in many different languages, employing male and female voices repeating strings of numbers or phonetic letters day and night, all year round. We referenced structures of morse, binary and braille codes to create a look and feel that expresses rigidity, anonymity and encryption. I also referenced the designs of Peter Saville for inspiration on form and layout. The sleeves were hand letter-pressed at BlueBarn House on Fabriano paper in gray.

"Untitled" by NinaSandvikMy Final Major Project is about the visual image of silence. It is a visual expression of anonymity and passivity. Silence is a powerful way of expression. Everything communicates something.Even nothing - even silence.

Anonym.us by jurotoAnonym.us was a school project that spawned out of a challenge to create an identity for a new social network. Rather than make another Facebook I thought it would be interesting to brand a modern esoteric society for thieves. I decided to call my social network Anonym.us as a play on anonymous. Since it was a network for thieves I combined the letter A with a ski mask to create the logo. To keep inline with the theme of anonymity and thievery I contained the information on the business card within a safe dial, turned the letterhead into a modern treasure map, made the envelopes security deposit bags, and the style guide a blueprint. As for the products, what better gifts for a thief than a ski mask and gloves?
